"Full of appreciation and admiration of the entire 5.3 team and the Ortho Team"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Emergency Department Box Hill Hospital / Paediatrics Box Hill Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as a parent/guardian),

Since first attending Box Hill emergency a few days ago I have been nothing but impressed with the continued level of care provided for my child. Prior to being transferred to Box Hill hospital, I had attended 3 other hospitals in the eastern suburbs and my own gp.

Whilst being triaged by Matt, I was told that all of our scans and notes from the previous hospital had already been sent through and a cubicle in emergency was ready waiting for us. We were extremely well cared for by a lovely nurse Claudia whilst in the Ed. It was late on a Saturday night, busy, but nothing was too much trouble for her. Whilst in Ed we were seen by a couple of ortho doctors and a plan was put in place, a paediatric dr was also sent down to see us as well who was extremely thorough even at 3am in the morning.

The decision was made to move my child up onto the ward 5.3. It was 4am in the morning but the nursing staff were friendly and thoughtful, and had a bed ready and waiting for both of us.

As mentioned we have spent the last 6 days here, and are still here. My child has always had the best level of care, whether it’s on the ward by the amazing doctors and nursing staff who have all been so kind and caring, the psa’s, radiographers, physio’s, cleaners and lunch ladies. We honestly can say each and every professional we have crossed paths with here have been an absolute pleasure. Continued team work and communication by both the paediatric team and the orthopaedic team has been exceptional. The drs of both teams have been in daily if not twice a day to give updates and go over the plan put in place to get my child healthy and home.

There are so many exceptional staff to name, I’m sure I have forgotten a couple so my apologies in advance.

Claudia in ED, Janet, Nathaniel, Dennis and their colleagues from orthopaedics, the entire team of amazing paediatric doctors.

The incredible nursing staff of Juliet, Helen, Beck, Mel, Zahra, Rachael, Nancy, Najie, Ahmed, Tash, Leanne, Hayley, Gigi, Nicola, Ally and Melissa. A special mention to Andrea who cared for us during our worst nights she is one in a million! Thanks also to Carmel who always is happy to have a chat and manages to put a big smile across your face, and the friendly and knowledgeable physios.

Our child, ourselves as parents and our extended families have been so impressed and will be forever grateful, full of appreciation and admiration for the job you have done and the level of care provided.

Thanking you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Dear lacertatf56,

Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your experience whilst attending Eastern Health's Box Hill Hospital. I am so pleased your experience has been so positive as this must not be easy for any of you - particularly your child.

In reading your comments, it's very clear to me the Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility have been on display by those you've highlighted by name, but also by all involved in your care.

It will give me great pleasure to share your comments with both the team in ward 5.3 plus the Emergency Department

I hope it's not too long before you're back home and returning to some form of 'normal' life.

Best wishes and kind regards,

David
