"Parking"

About: Geraldton Community Health Service Geraldton Hospital

(as a service user),

While I understand the area is undergoing renovations at my most recent immunisation appointment for my baby, there was no parking even close to the area that I needed to be.

I was lucky I arrived 15 minutes before the appointment otherwise I would have been late. There appeared to the parking bays blocked off for no reason.

I needed to walk about 500m in the warm sun with my child. Where I parked was out the back of the possibly incorrect area because it was poorly signed. I thought when parking there, because I believe the hospital is aware of the lack of parking, that they would make it easier for patients.

This was a bit frustrating - and I can imagine this could be worse if I wasn’t physically able to complete that walk.

Dear homamwz66,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding parking at the Immunisation Clinic at Geraldton Health Campus. It is really important that we ensure our consumers have suitable access to parking when visiting the campus and I am sorry for the difficulties you experienced when you came to the vaccination clinic with your baby.

As you would have noticed Geraldton Health Campus is currently undergoing a significant redevelopment. This will include extra parking and we are currently working with both local government and our redevelopment team to ensure parking for our consumers is available as close to the building as possible. We will also raise your story at our monthly all staff forum to encourage staff to consider where they are parking on the campus to ensure the bays closest to the hospital are kept available for consumers.

If you would like to discuss your experience further your call or email would be very welcome and can be kept anonymous. My name is Derek Fraser and I am the Operations Manager at Geraldton Hospital. You can contact me on phone 9956 2403 or email via derek.fraser@health.wa.gov.au.

Again thank you for sharing your feedback about parking at Geraldton Hospital. I am looking forward to the new car parking being opened in the very near future to better support all of our consumers to access the hospital and wish you and your family all the very best.

Kind Regards

Derek Fraser
