After the birth of my first daughter, I was put into the care of a kind and compassionate visiting midwife, Tamara who showed us respect and helped us transition to parenthood. While visiting she was thorough, calling doctors or her supervisor to address a number of health concerns for me and Bub. This process made me feel well supported and safe in our new world.
Throughout the visits Tamara found my BP to be high, she stayed calm while I started to pack for an emergency visit. Later that day she text to check in and reminded me she would continue to visit until my BP was resolved. Knowing this meant I knew the hospital and her visits would keep on top of my issue, ensuring it wouldn’t escalate to bigger, ongoing medical issues.
Overall the visiting midwife system was absolutely vital for my family and I cannot thank Tamara enough.
