"Treatment journey - cancer care"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus Patient Assisted Travel Scheme - WACHS Goldfields

(as a carer),

My mum was diagnosed with cancer at Kalgoorlie Hospital in April 2020. As you would expect, this was a massive shock to our family with the added uncertainty that COVID had already brought to everyone's lives. From the very beginning, the care she has been provided from the surgical team, the medical and surgical wards, emergency department and mostly from the outpatient cancer care team has been attentive, caring and of an incredible standard. Her care has been carefully coordinated and has run smoothly from the very beginning thanks to the dedication of the teams that care for her. Her care remains ongoing but I thought it was time for a small message of gratitude, to everyone who she has crossed paths with that has and continues to support us through very difficult time.

Dear courageqe38,

Thank you very much for your generous feedback about the care your mother has received at Kalgoorlie Hospital.

I am really pleased for your mum and your family that even during the challenges of that particular period in our COVID preparations, you felt the standard of care provided was “incredible”.

That is high praise and I think it says a lot about the teams and the focus they have on their patient. I will be sure to pass it on to all the Departments you have mentioned.

Thank you again for your positive feedback and I wish your mum all the best in the treatment of her illness.

Regards,

David Bowdidge
