"Complaint about the hospital service"

About: The Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

I went to eye and ear hospital my parent who is elderly. They were experiencing a really bad red eye, not sure what caused it considering they had an eye operation two months before.

So we arrived in the afternoon and 5 hours they still haven’t been seen. In my opinion, this is ridiculous and can’t imagine how they can make people wait like this and mind you this is emergency. What the heck? I want to take this further. At the time of writing this story, it was making us stress and I want to deal with it now.

I am so sorry to learn that your experience was not what you expected in our Emergency Department.

I want to apologise for the delay you experienced during your stay in our Emergency Department. Unfortunately, it is sometimes unavoidable that we get a surge of patient numbers and very complex patients. During these times, all our ED staff work very hard to see as many patients as possible but sometimes, unfortunately, there is still a long wait time for our patients.
