My husband had care at the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital. He had to have wound dressing and back and forward for several months. The wound dressing nurses - I couldn’t fault them, they were absolutely fantastic in every way.
I couldn’t speak highly enough of Barbara and her team (I think Barbara runs it, Kathy is her offsider and there is another nurse). In my opinion, they go above and beyond. They were knowledgeable and really seemed to know what they were doing. If need be, they would contact us. They took that extra step - just in every way they were really good. Nothing was ever a bother. They spoke to us and informed us what is going on. They did a lot of explaining - their care, their detail, their attention and the way they treated my husband was just fantastic.
In my opinion, it makes a very big difference, being informed and not having to play the guessing game. The wound dressing nurses' care was very good and I feel it should be recognised. I would recommend them to anyone.
My husband also had to have a skin cancer taken off and the care with that was just fantastic. The visiting surgeon, who guided a staff member doing the procedure, was very good. He also acknowledged my husband as a human being, not a robot just lying there. His manner and his care for my hubby was very good.
