"A doctor who made me feel belittled and humiliated"

About: Alfred Health

(as a service user),

I was given an appointment time of late afternoon over the telephone by the receptionist, I arrived almost half an hour early. The receptionist asked what time I thought my appointment was. I advised the time given to me then they said oops I think we must have misread the times sorry.

But I feel the doctor was angry with me for arriving so late although there was no one waiting. I waited for all the appointments to finish, then I believe they made me wait some more minutes before they saw me. When I got in there I felt they told me off sternly although I tried to explain it wasn’t my fault ...

When trying to explain I have been weak in the legs, dizzy, sweating and feeling like I was walking like I was drunk to this cardiologist, they said, so were you? Then they said they don’t know why people think that feeling hot and sweating is considered to be a heart issue. I felt they were belittling me and my symptoms.

I don’t believe they gave me advice Re follow-up or what to do next. They asked me to get out of their room while they wrote the script for cholesterol medicine and then chatted to another doctor while I waited outside for some more minutes.

I left the practice feeling undiagnosed, hurt and totally upset.
