"Breastfeeding Centre of WA"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Breastfeeding Centre of WA

(as a service user),

After giving birth to my first child at King Edward earlier this year, I unfortunately had attachment issues when trying to feed. As a new mum it was stressful to not be able to feed properly and though I had many incredible midwives trying to assist me with feeding, sadly it was unsuccessful.

I was referred to the Breastfeeding Centre of WA at King Edward and was fortunate to be able to access the incredible service. The wonderful lactation consultant was able to offer me expert advice, reassurance and really put my mind at ease. After previously spending hours with many others trying to help me feed, within minutes the LC at the centre had my baby attached. I believe it is such an essential service for new mums to be able to access and I'm truly grateful I was able to use it while at King Edward.

I truly hope this service will still be available to mums when the new maternity hospital reopens. Thank you to my lactation consultant and the fantastic midwives.

Dear librajh94,

Congratulations on the birth of your first baby! Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent experience with King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) and the Breastfeeding Centre of WA.

I am sorry to hear that you experienced feeding difficulties which caused you stress. I am so pleased that the Lactation Consultants (LC) were able to provide you with valuable advice and reassurance to put you at ease, and support you as a new mum.

The Breastfeeding Centre of WA has made a difference in the postnatal care we are able to provide to women experiencing breastfeeding issues. Our staff are committed to this service and this is a true testament of the collaborative approach with baby and mother to achieve such positive results.

We rely on feedback such as yours to continually review, improve and grow our service, in line with our patient's preferences and needs. Your feedback will allow for us to support these preferences during the design stages for the new WNHS hospital on the QEII site.

Once again, thank you for your feedback. I wish you and your family all the best.

Kind regards

Jodi Graham
