"Mask compliance"

About: North Midlands Health Service

(as a service user),

I am an elderly person in a small town and I have multiple health issues that are causing me a lot of stress and anxiety with the Caronavirus that could be in our community.

I have seen staff members at my local Heath service in and around our community who are supposed to be wearing masks as I believe they have been in Perth recently but aren't. I believe I also overheard somebody saying that the management team are not wearing masks in both the community and the hospital when they were in Perth on holidays.

I did indeed see the new senior staff, I believe, at the health service recently and they were not in a mask, and I hope that they were not in Perth as I do recognise them.

Can somebody please investigate these claims? What if they make one of us sick? I feel if we can't trust them to do the right thing, who can we trust?

I do not feel comfortable calling with my concerns as I believe that I will not be treated fairly if I need to present to the health service.

Dear golfrep34,

Thank you for sharing your concerns about mask wearing at North Midlands Health Service, please be assured that your feedback is being taken seriously and has been acted upon. Our staff are regularly provided with the latest health advice in regards to COVID 19 and because of your feedback, I followed up again with those working at North Midlands Health Service to ensure those that have travelled from Perth are complying by wearing masks appropriately. Reminders and updates will be provided to all staff on a regular basis.

I am sorry that you did not feel comfortable to provide feedback directly to the health service, however, I am very appreciative that you took up the opportunity to make contact via Care Opinion to contact us anonymously. Feedback from everyone who accesses our services is important and allows us to improve the care we provide to country communities so it is fantastic that you were able to use Care Opinion to let us know your concerns.

If you would like to discuss any of your concerns further, your call would be very welcome and I can maintain your anonymity if you wish. You can contact me on phone at 9956 2268 or email Leanne.Sice@health.wa.gov.au and I hope that I hear from you soon.

Best wishes,

Leanne Sice

A/Operations Manager Midwest Murchison
