After a great experience with my firstborn through MGP4, I had just started my appointments for my second pregnancy with MGP4 again, even being lucky enough to have the same midwife. Carissa was fantastic during our appointments again and made me feel really comfortable.
Unfortunately at our 20-week scan, we got some bad news about our baby. While my GP tried, Carissa was the first person to actually explain to us in an appropriate way how serious the suspected diagnosis was, sharing our concern and explaining likely next steps. This was incredibly important to prepare us for the coming weeks and I can't thank her enough for this.
Deane (Cardiologist) performed the follow-up test and I couldn't have asked for a better delivery of such awful news. Deane was factual, balanced and detailed. She took the time to explain everything to us clearly and answer all of our questions.
The ongoing care from the Maternal Fetal Medicine group was incredibly supportive, including from Jan who was also balanced and clear in sharing our next steps.
All of the midwives on the labour ward were amazing, particularly Helen, who we'd met previously through MGP4 and was such a great person to support me through my labour. Helen also did an amazing job respecting and treasuring our beautiful daughter.
The support provided through the perinatal loss process was incredible. I felt everyone was respectful and well-trained to support us through this difficult time, making us feel very comfortable.
Having my visiting midwife visits at home being performed by MGP4 was a really nice and comfortable way to receive the at-home care. Thanks to Katy, Leane and Lolita!
MGP4 is an incredibly supportive program and I am so glad I was able to be a part of it again.
For such an awful event, the care provided by everyone we interacted with at KEMH was second to none and we are incredibly grateful for this.
