"Hospital parking"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as a carer),

I have to take my spouse to the hospital for chemotherapy and radiation every day for at least the next 5 to 6 weeks, mostly for less than 2 hours (if the x ray machines don't break down). As aged pensioners we can't afford to pay for fuel and parking and don't get any subsidised parking under 3 hours. The whole ordeal is stressful enough without the added financial burden.

Dear marsdr93,

I am very sorry to hear of your spouse’s cancer diagnosis, and sincerely wish them all the best for a full recovery.

I am also sorry to hear of the financial burden you describe being under. I have spoken to our Head of Social Work, who has suggested that their Welfare Team may undertake a full assessment of your situation in order to determine what options exist to assist you.

As such – may I ask that you phone our switchboard on 6152 2222 and ask to be put through to the Social Work department?

Thank you and regards,

Neil Doverty
