"Poor bed controls"

About: Sale Hospital / Surgical Services/Ward

(as the patient),

I had laproscopy/hysteroscopy operation and the bed in the ward I was given had no controls within easy reach but were at the foot of the bed. Maintenance staff had to be called to show staff how to use it. I have now developed a hernia which, I believe, is mostly caused by having to use my stomach muscles to sit up to even have a drink of water.

My name is Mandy Pusmucans and I am the Director of Nursing at Sale Hospital. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I am sorry that this has been your experience. I discussed your concern with ward staff and the need to make sure bed controls are within easy reach. We will continue our work on this.

I hope that you are feeling okay, but if there is anything further I can do for you please contact me on phone 5143 8512 or via email at mandy.pusmucans@cghs.com.au.

Kind regards
