I am a staff member at Albany Health Campus. I have worked there for many years and have had a few procedures and surgeries in the facility.
I recently had surgery to repair a "massive hiatus hernia" This turned out to be more complex than anticipated. I felt very traumatised. I was scared and in a lot of pain. However, I am so grateful for the amazing care I received from staff, many of whom I know personally.
From Ed, my lovely surgeon, Steve, Dr Zoran and Tim, anaesthetists....(even a friendly hello from Pieter, while I was waiting). So many of the wonderful theatre staff, whom I have worked with over the years, Carolyn, Julie, Jess, Claire and especially to Cathy who rarely left my side whilst I was howling in recovery. You were the best.
Then in HDU to Naomi, Daisy, Collette, Emma, Tanya, Ash, Val, Anne Marie and the lovely students Lucy and Ray. I felt so safe in your care. To all the young and caring docs like Joe etc. And never ever forgetting the helpful ancillary staff, Tom, Tamara and more. Nurse managers Jean Marie and Kirsteen.
Sorry if I have left anyone out. Now that I am home, I feel fragile, tearful, sore and very tired, but blessed to be alive and to be a part of the great team that is Albany Health Campus. Thank you all so much. xxxx.
In my experience, never take your health as a given. I feel you should wake up and feel happy to be alive and breathing in our wee paradise here in The Great Southern.
