Recently, we received a text from the WA police stating that all visiting Victorians were required to get tested and isolate until we received results. We were on vacation and nearing the end of our stay. Our flight was scheduled to leave back to Melbourne through Perth the next day. We were worried about getting the text results in time to not only board our flight, but we also had no other place to stay after checking out of our room by 10am.
We ended up waiting over 2 hours in a line outside for the test. I felt that was a long wait without a place to sit for many of the elderly in line, but someone came out with some chairs and bottled water. That is my only critique, but it seemed they were given very little notice.
Everyone I encountered, however, was lovely, patient and doing their best in a very fast situation. The nurses doing our test were funny and very efficient! Put us greatly at ease. The nurses explained that they put us into a rapid results queue for our tests.
We had our first phone call in about 2 hours, our texts with results were received shortly thereafter and at least 2 follow-up calls to ensure we had our texts for boarding the flight. We even received a phone call after we returned home to follow up and ask if we were still feeling well. Don't know if that is normal to keep following up, but we felt the service was fantastic.
It was such a crazy set of circumstances, but for us, the folks at the Covid testing site and the follow up calls were so very re-assuring. We loved our visit to Broome and we greatly appreciated the diligence of the staff to get the job done and keep us re-assured and informed.
