"My parent"

About: Box Hill Hospital / Medical oncology

(as a carer),

My parent was admitted to Box Hill Hospital early in the day recently. My parent was admitted to a ward from ED. It has been a few days since then and not one phone call from a doctor to inform me of diagnosis/prognosis. The pharmacist & speech pathologist both rang the morning of admission. I believe when you are not allowed to visit it is important to families to be updated.

Dear Yaya,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with your parent being admitted to a ward at Eastern Health's Box Hill Hospital. I'm sorry it hasn't been a positive one and that the communication with the medical team has not been as expected.

As I am unsure exactly which service your parent is admitted to (Oncology or Haematology), I will provide your feedback to the Directors of these services for their information and action.

I am pleased that other members of the team have made contact so you would have some information regarding the care plan for your parent.

Thank you again and I trust your experience will shortly be improved.

Kind regards,

David
