"Aggressive staff"

About: Epworth Geelong

(as a relative),

I was visiting my relative, who is dying (i.e. end-of-life), at Epworth Geelong.

I was saying goodbye when a clinician came in and asked if I was from Melbourne. I said no and told them where I was from in regional Victoria and had driven over via the ferry. They said that I was not allowed to be there because the whole of Victoria was in lockdown and they would have to report me to the nurse in charge. Then they said you have to come with me, grabbed my arm and escorted me to the nurses' station I believe, where they announced to a few other staff members standing there that I am not from here, and that they have to report this. This clinician walked off, leaving me standing there crying.

Another clinician standing just across from me behind the desk approached me and said I was there for the right reasons and was allowed to be there because my relative is end-of-life. This clinician was kind. I said that the hospital coordinator had already checked on the way in and they gave me permission. This clinician tried to reassure me. I was so upset. I couldn’t go back in to see my relative. I felt so awful. Theis clinician kindly walked me to the elevator.

I felt the first clinician was so aggressive and hostile in their manner. Even if the rules had been what they thought, I believe they still shouldn’t treat people the way they treated me. In my opinion, if they're stressed about the c19 lockdown maybe they should stay home or get help.
