I recently gave birth to my third baby at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
My antenatal care was provided by a midwifery group practice at the hospital. The experience was wonderful compared to the standard antenatal clinic appointments I attended for my second pregnancy. I really appreciated being able to see the same small group of midwives each appointment and develop a relationship with them.
I felt like my particular concerns were understood and I didn't need to repeat them each appointment. I also appreciated being able to see familiar faces throughout my pregnancy, the birth and postpartum. I felt really well supported through the unpredictable process of pregnancy and childbirth and feel an overwhelming appreciation for the care I was given.
I strongly recommend this model of care for low-risk pregnancies and would definitely opt for this again if I have another baby.
