I have recently had the experience of having my Mother have emergency admissions to Royal Perth Hospital and be admitted to Ward 5H following a fall.
I found (and at the time of writing this, she was still an inpatient in RPH) the care to be excellent, highly competent and equally compassionate. This was both in the ED and in particular on 5H. This was both in the nursing and medical care.
Staff took time to speak to us and allow us to be involved in Mum's care. We never felt we were in the way nor were we made to feel as though we were interfering. We felt extremely confident in the quality of care, attention to the small things for Mum and their response to the family.
In particular we wanted to note the exceptional care provided by Loren ( CN) who nursed Mum over three shifts. It was evident to us that 5H has created a very strong team culture around care and excellence - a successful sign of good leadership.
I also had the opportunity to experience the SAFE team on 2 occasions- whilst a little anxiety provoking I felt the medical and nursing SAFE team were fantastic- both with Mum and myself.
In short, in my experience as a family member, I have found every experience with staff of 5H to be very positive and quality care. The family is truly grateful and appreciative.
"Excellent, compassionate health care"
