So, I've developed a head cold recently, and knew I couldn't go into the office and expose all my colleagues to my runny nose and sneezing. Luckily for me, I can work from home, but, given the times we are in, I had to face the fact that I should go and get a COVID test. I've managed to avoid this for the whole of the past 15 months! I must admit, I was wary of the discomfort, and the inconvenience.
However, when I arrived at the ED, there was no inconvenience: from ED Clerk, to Triage nurse, to treating doctor and nurse, I felt they were accommodating, friendly and caring. I had arrived early, so didn't have to wait long to see the lovely Dr Will. His care, consideration and friendly conversation kept me completely at ease. He undertook a thorough assessment to ensure nothing was missed, and the support of the lovely nurse outside the cubicle (I'm so sorry I missed your name!) ensured only one person needed to gown and glove, and only once: great, efficient teamwork! And while the swab itself wasn't something I want to do too often, it certainly wasn't the ordeal I had thought it could be.
I am so proud and grateful that we have such dedicated, skilled health professionals here caring for their own communities, in the most far flung parts of our vast state. Thank you!
"Great ED team care!"
