My toddler daughter was taken to PCH by ambulance recently following a cyanotic febrile seizure. On presentation to ED, she was taken straight to a bay and, I felt, received fantastic care from a nurse called Jemma. In my opinion, she has great bedside manner and put my daughter at ease as best as she could while having to wear a mask which my daughter really doesn’t like. The rest of the team in ED were amazing - my daughter had 2 more febrile seizures while in ED and was taken to the resus bay both times.
The team were so quick to respond at the press of the emergency call button and they were also conscious of how I was feeling as it can all, very understandably, be very overwhelming. Special mention to Conrad, a junior doctor, and Will, the senior doctor, who were very holistic in their care. They ordered a chest X-ray which showed a left side pneumonia. The team in ED were excellent at communicating what was happening and made sure I was ok with the plan they proposed.
She was admitted to ward 4B for a few days and special mention to nurses Chloe, Jess and Kate who took such good care of us. I felt that Chloe especially was amazing with my daughter and also was great with us parents. We had an incredible medical team led by Dr Helen looking after my daughter. Dr Helen had the most beautiful bedside manner and was so good with my daughter. My wife was also 35 weeks pregnant with twins at this time and scheduled for a c-section around that time and Dr Helen contacted my wife’s obstetrician to see if there was anyway to reschedule to c-section just in case my daughter wasn’t going to be discharged in time.
Dr Helen spent time with us to go through the treatment plan for my daughter and gave us plenty of time to ask questions and discuss what was going on. We can’t thank her enough for her wonderful care and the team on 4B for their help in getting our daughter better.
"Excellent care"
