I've been sober for five months now, thanks to the team at Lives Lived Well – Woolloongabba. At the time I didn't understand what a life lived well could look like. On the surface, my life probably seemed like a fulfilling one, but I was desperately unhappy and the coping mechanisms I'd developed over fifteen years were no longer serving me.
Brodie, Kirsty, Jess, and Arizona opened me up to the possibility of life without alcohol through what I felt was a supportive, secular, and scientifically-based approach. The day-hab course is designed to help you help yourself. My one-on-one sessions with my case worker gave me more insight into what I was going through than, in my opinion, years of therapy and checking in with my GP were able to.
I've since been diagnosed with ADHD and have been getting treatment for that, have taken up new hobbies, have reconnected with my partner and family and friends in a more meaningful way, and have gained a kind of self-control over my emotions, behaviour, and actions that I honestly didn't think was possible.
I can safely say this is the best thing I've ever done for myself!
