I had my baby via C section in February 2021. I had the best experience I could have possibly hoped for. The anaesthetist (Dr Ian) was fantastic and kept me calm whilst giving me the epidural, and throughout the entire procedure. They prioritised skin on skin even though I had a c section.
I was taken through to recovery where they helped me get my baby to latch straight away and kept the skin on skin going.
I was then taken down to the maternity unit and helped by a lovely midwife Brittany. Noting I was anxious, they moved us to our own room so my partner could be with me and stay overnight.
Each midwife we had throughout our 5-day stay was absolutely incredible. They helped with the latch, taught us how to swaddle, how to change a nappy and answered any and all questions we had 24 hours a day.
They came to help me quickly when I needed it, no matter what time it was and were so caring! I really didn't want to leave by the end and called it the baby hotel instead of the hospital.
The amazing care I received and Randwick Royal Hospital for Women put me in the best possible mindset to go home and start caring for my child. Now, 5 months on, I still feel confident and happy and know that a lot of this is down to the amazing care I received.
Thank you so much from all three of us!
