A few months ago, while holidaying in Karijini National Park, my father had a significant head injury resulting from a fall from height.
Sadly, my father succumbed to his injury in the coming days and passed away in ICU at Royal Perth Hospital.
Notwithstanding this unfortunate outcome, the response and care delivered to my father by the exceptional staff of the Intensive Care Unit were exceptional and deserving of recognition. All of the staff we dealt with, clinical and non-clinical alike played a part in this level of care, but I would like to single out the team of Nurses that provided the 1-1 care; Kath, Karen, Sarah, Jenny, Jenna, Laura and Penny – who was with us at the end of the process.
Penny, our organ donor consultant was considerate and professional. Our ICU Consultant, Dr Julian led the delivery of appropriate and high-level care given the circumstances. He and the team were always considerate of our family, the sensitivity of the situation and the complexity of our specific family needs as he walked us through the actions and decisions required to be undertaken.
This team displayed nothing but compassion, empathy and professionalism as they gave all available opportunities to my father while supporting our family. Thank you.
Kind regards,
From all of the family.
"Amazing care and consideration delivered by ICU staff"
