"Unreasonable length of waiting time at fracture clinic"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Outpatient Services

(as the patient),

Last month I waited one and a half hours to see a doctor at the Fracture Clinic. More recently, I waited two and a quarter hours to see a doctor at the Fracture Clinic. In my opinion, this is most unsatisfactory and it seems to me that the system needs to be streamlined. I hasten to point out that my complaint is not concerning the doctors or the receptionists all of whom, I feel, are very good.

I believe there is something radically wrong with the system.

Thank you.

Dear pilingskx96,

Thank you for providing your feedback on Care Opinion and giving us the opportunity to reflect on your experience. I am sorry that you had to wait for an extended period of time to see the doctor at our Fracture Clinic.

The Fracture Clinic was initially developed to improve access to Orthopaedic Surgeons for public patients in the Midwest, however has become busier in recent times and I acknowledge that waiting times have increased. Your feedback has given us the push to review our service again and hopefully, we can make improvements to reduce waiting times and continue to achieve our originally intended goal.

I am also available should you wish to discuss your concerns with me directly. My name is Nathalie Pass and I am the Coordinator of Nursing – Surgical Services Ambulatory Care at Geraldton Hospital and you can contact me on phone 9956 2329 or email Nathalie.Pass@health.wa.gov.au. Your call would be very welcome.

Thank you for also sharing your positive feedback about the doctors and staff in the fracture clinic. I am pleased to hear that you found their care to be very good and I am sure that your kind words will be appreciated by the team.

Kind regards

Nathalie Pass
