"ED visit for our toddler"

About: Albany Health Campus / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

Our toddler had a minor injury at home recently and we thought it best to get it checked at ED. We were fortunate that there was no one else waiting and we were in and out in 45 minutes thanks to the efficient and kind staff. This included Amanda on triage, the clerk (missed your name sorry), our treating Nurse Lynn, and Dr Will.

The staff were very supportive and created a family-friendly environment. They were all really good at engaging our toddler and did their best to make her comfortable. We were satisfied and reassured with the treatment received. Our toddler was initially scared but later told us she had a “lovely day” at the hospital! Thank you for doing what you do!

Dear Proud Mum,

Thank you for your kind words and I hope your toddler is making a full recovery. Emergency departments are complex environments that can be scary enough for adults so we do work really hard to create a safe clinical environment for our younger patients. It probably helped that ED was quiet and you were able to be seen straight away. We really appreciate that you took the time to identify the staff who assisted you and we will make sure that they see your feedback as well as the rest of the team.

If only all our patients could declare at the end of a visit that they had a “lovely day” at the hospital!

With best wishes.
