My son decided to do a speedy dash to touch the fireplace and ended up with second degree burns on his hand. We were directed by urgent care to go to ED, and so went to PCH emergency for the first time.
We were triaged quickly, directed to a space for more first aid to be applied, and then seen by a lovely Dr J, a plastics Dr and two very lovely nurses who, I felt, were all kind, understanding and excellent with communicating the processes. I believe there was no judgement on us (apart from us to ourselves!) and ongoing compassion and consideration for us as parents, as well as with my son who was overtired and very active/resistant!
When I raised a concern about some medication, it was responded to and addressed quickly and professionally, and we were booked in for the clinic easily and given directions for when we would come.
Overall, it was a great experience for a distressing moment, and exceeded my expectations of hospitals in general.
