"Medical Imaging"

About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Medical Imaging

(as other),

I am a little confused with how your system works. I had a referral from our GP faxed to medical imaging for a quartertone injection on a certain date last month. I called through the following week to see if they had received the referral to which they had and was told it was in the pile and I would need to ring back in 2 weeks to book an appointment. Why can't they bring up their booking calendar to the next available spot and book you in then? I understand that there may be a wait, what I don't understand is why do I need to call back in 2 weeks to book an appointment?

With the type of work I do, I need to be able to work around my appointments within my line of work, it is not a workplace where we can give 1 days notice that we need time off to have this done.  I called back more recently and was able to book an appointment even after being told that they had pulled my referral from halfway through the pile. With this being mentioned, it does not give you a great feeling, it makes you feel like it is a hassle for them and that you are pushing in front of other people.

Regards Rocket

Dear Rock,

I am disappointed to hear about your negative experience as a patient scheduling an appointment with our Medical Imaging Department. I apologise that the staff member who took your call and scheduled your appointment made you feel that your health needs were a hassle.

I would very much appreciate if you could contact Mr Scott Jones, Operations Manager at Kalgoorlie Hospital so that he can facilitate a thorough investigation of the issues that you have raised and if you wish, provide you with information regarding the WA Country Health service referral process. Scott can be contacted on 08 9080 5817 or via email at Scott.Jones2@health.wa.gov.au and would welcome hearing from you.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback as this helps us to improve our communication process’ with our patients for the future.

I sincerely apologise for your experience and do hope that you are on the road to recovery.

Kind Regards,

Peter Tredinnick
Regional Director
