My parent was in a hospital in their home town which is an Acute hospital. They were going to be sent to an outline hospital to recoup, I requested Collie as this is my hometown and it would be easier for me.
We waited for about 4 days to be able to receive a bed in Collie and I am so thankful. In my opinion, the staff (all of them, from Nurses, Cleaners, Kitchen people) absolutely the most kindest, caring dedicated people. I believe they really are an outstanding team, it seems nothing is too much trouble for them no matter how busy they are.
My parent has made great improvement and will be discharged one day soon into my care but we have to go back to their hometown and I have to give up work to go with them. We are entering the ACAP plan and can only be arranged at Eaton as they don't service Collie with the daily check at the home, I was told. Maybe this is something they should look into for the future so as not to upheave families in this situation. I will have to be away from my family for 3 weeks, then my parent is going with my relative for the remainder of the 12 weeks transition.
Also another concern is, I was putting on bed socks for my parent and their roomie so I could take them outside for a sit in the fresh air. I noticed both of them, who have been in hospital for a while now, had long toe nails. This made me think about patients who have to be in hospital for a long stay how they would benefit with a bit of pamper care; nails, hair that sort of thing. So as to inquire about if this is allowed, and if they have regular pamper people go around to hospitals to do these sort of things for the patients?
Once again thank you Collie Hospital fantastic job.
