"Extraordinary kindness shown by the Emergency ward clerk at Bass Coast Health"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I had driven my sister to emergency with blood pressure at a dangerously high level This was at the recommendation of a local medical service who had already discussed best care management with Bass Coast Health medical personnel and a patch had been applied. With COVID restrictions, I waited in the car park and kept in contact with her by mobile. After some two hours, I called emergency for an update (this was very late at night).

The ward clerk Mary was exceptional and I believe Emergency was under pressure  I was informed that she had been triaged and her BP had dropped but prior to discharge she was to be reviewed by the night staff.

Then came the question: Are you getting cold in the car and have you eaten tonight?

Next thing, security approached my car with a warm blanket, sandwiches and a bottle of water!

This is a true indication of the level of kindness, care and commitment shown by, in my opinion, staff at all levels at this organisation. I believe we truly are so fortunate in this community.

Dear In awe,

Thank you! I am so sorry that this COVID world had you sitting in a car rather than sitting next to your sister. I am also very inspired by our team who try very hard to make the best of our new world. Thank you so much for recognising their kindness. I hope you and your sister are doing OK.

Take Care, Jan
