I was taken to Box Hill hospital with suspected PE recently. I was taken to the isolation ward as I had a temperature on arrival (did have a negative covid test 3 days before) but totally understand. I felt it was quite eerie and intimidating in there. I was checked on and informed of what was happening.
As soon as my covid test came back negative I was transferred to short- stay, and it was so busy. I was attended by nurses that were kind, compassionate and only too happy to answer my questions, get whatever I needed. I had a lovely nurse take time out of his busy day to make me a coffee, it's the small things.
I was transferred to ward 9.2 late at night, again I was greeted with smiling eyes, kindness and compassion. Once I was settled the nurse made me a tea and got me some water and made sure I was settled, all with a smile behind her mask.
The following morning the doctors discharged me, I had to wait for the pharmacy for some medication, I was getting a little overwhelmed with all the information that I forgot to ask a few questions. The amazing nurse took time to chase the doctors for me and answering whatever questions he could answer and made sure that I was ok. It calmed me down.
Every single nurse I had treated me with kindness, compassion. I witnessed this with other patients. No matter how challenging the patient, the nurses were only too happy to help. I just wanted them to know that I appreciated their attentiveness, and kindness, which kept me calm and informed throughout my stay.
Thank you amazing nurses.
"Kind and caring nurses"
