"Passage from ACROD parking to hospital entry"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital

(as the patient),

I’ve been to FSH on numerous visits, I have a pain when walking problem & an ACROD permit for parking.

The distance from one to the other is difficult to negotiate from this pain. I understand there was a shuttle cart in operation to assist the afflicted, but I have no idea how to use or contact such service.

It is one thing to have disabled parking available but I believe it’s still a difficult distance from the hospital. Walking is painfully difficult for me.

When I approached the boom gate to #2 park, several cars were waiting to enter with car park full sign. As mentioned above, I had ACROD permit, & knew there were empty bays available. But I couldn’t get to the PA to talk, blocked by waiting cars. Very stressful.

Dear piscesmg35,

I am sorry to read of the difficulties you are experiencing with parking at Fiona Stanley Hospital. We are aware that parking is an issue on site and we are currently working on multiple strategies to address this, ultimately to increase the number of bays available for our patients to attend vital medical appointments on time.

We do offer a transport buggy driven by our wonderful team of volunteers for patients who need assistance. Once you have parked your car and can describe to the team where you are waiting, you can arrange to be picked up by calling our hospital switchboard on 6152 2222. One of our volunteers will collect you as soon as they are able. This service is available between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. We endeavour to do our best to cover each day with the generosity of our volunteers, however, please note that there may not always be an available volunteer to cover each weekday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm.

We also encourage you, and any of our patients who require assistance getting from the carpark to the hospital to speak with your doctor or friendly switchboard team when your appointment is scheduled to understand how we can assist.

I wish you all the best with your future treatment.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
Group Executive Director

Fiona Stanley Fremantle Hospitals Group.
