"Colorectal surgery"

About: Dandenong Hospital

(as a relative),

My spouse attended Dandenong Hospital for surgery at the end of last year. Could not have been happier with the outcome of their surgery, however, due to their surgeon going on some leave my spouse was never given their 2 week follow up appointment.

I tried on 4 occasions, twice in January, once in February and finally another attempt in June to get this appointment. My spouse was given an appointment for follow up last month.

The most disturbing part is, at the appointment my spouse was told they had fallen through the cracks somehow and would need further tests. On that same day they were sent operation booking forms, financial consent forms and pre-op instructions, to have the operation they had at the end of last year done again at a private hospital, as they needed to check if their condition had come back in the lapse of time.

I believe this is very poor and should be addressed further as it is, in my opinion, unacceptable. I feel a follow up appointment should have been made, and my spouse should not be going through surgery and another anesthetic that, I believe, could have been avoided if care had been taken in the first place.
