I had my baby 2 weeks ago and I struggled a lot with getting my baby to breastfeed. She wasn't putting on any weight and I was having problems keeping her awake long enough to feed. We as first-time parents, were quite stressed, tired and very concerned about our baby.
I had a consult with Ali from population health and she was caring, supportive and helpful. She referred me straight to the hospital and promptly followed up on how we went and also to book another appointment with her.
I had to express milk and use formula for top-up, this eventually got my baby back up to birth weight but my intentions were always to breastfeed. I went to my second appointment with Ali, and she made me feel so much better. She has a gentle approach to breastfeeding, no force used at all, and she gave me back my confidence, I would have given up without her help. Based on my experience, Ali truly has compassion for people and clearly is very good at her job and I am so grateful that we have her as our lactation consultant. My baby is now fully breastfed and putting on weight and looking healthy.
