A few years ago, I suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage after an aneurysm ruptured. I spent 3 weeks in FMC in ED, 5F (High Dependency), ICCU (9 days) and 5B (Neurosurgery). I had a number of angiograms, CT and other scans, the insertion of an EV drain and surgery to insert a stent.
I received incredible care in all of the wards. As I was quite unwell, I cannot remember the names of all of the people who helped me, but I do vividly remember the nurses: Quinn in 5F (who saved my life by noticing I was deteriorating); Jo, Hetty, Sally and Nicole in ICCU and Gabby, Scott, Paul, Andrea and Milla in 5B- particularly Gabby who cared for me so well.
My doctors were also unfailingly caring, respectful, kind and amazing. I particularly remember and thank Nick V, Arosha, Nick C and Michael as well as the Neurosurgery Nurse Consultant Christine.
I also received wonderful care from the OTs and physios- particularly Hannah (OT) and Caroline (physio), and all of the volunteers.
I'm very grateful.
