(as a relative),

My parent, a few weeks ago, we had to do a welfare check on them which was saving their life as their bsl was extremely high. Transferred to Merredin Hospital, RPH then discharged. My parent returned to Merredin, admitted one night in Merredin hospital, then the next day escaped. The hospital and everyone trying to locate my parent, organised for them to have community nurse to check on them twice a day ensuring they were ok taking their medication and insulin each day, plus meals on wheels each lunchtime.  

My parent is not the best person to deal with and has become very grumpy, extremely rude and arrogant to doctors from Bruce Rock and Southern Cross and all of the nursing staff at Merredin Hospital. I also met the director of nursing in Merredin, as my parent was causing so much trouble! 

Our family want to thank very much; the Merredin Police officers, ambulance officers, staff at RPH, from Merredin the doctors, nursing staff, nursing manager, director of nursing, Stephanie from Hacc, everyone checking in on them and anyone else involved who have to deal with my parent. Those putting in extra time and a lot of behind the scenes effort in helping my parent, who believes there is nothing wrong with them and wants everyone to leave them alone!

Plus giving me support when needed for a shoulder to cry on, chat or just checking in to see if I was ok and let me know I’m doing an amazing job caring for my parent.

I know our journey is not over yet with my parent and we are taking it one moment at a time.

Thank you for your lovely feedback regarding your parent's presentation and care at Merredin Hospital both as an inpatient and in the community.

We do always endeavour to give quality patient centred care at Merredin and I was heartened to hear that this was the case for your family and your parent. I will pass on your caring words to the staff involved.

I will also pass on your kind words to the local police, ambulance drivers and our community staff including Steph.

I know that your journey is not over at this stage but the staff will continue to work to develop the best plan for your parent.
