"Misdiagnosis"

About: Bentley Mental Health Services / East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMYU) Fiona Stanley Hospital / Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in late 2018 early 2019 by Fiona Stanley Hospital while on their mental health unit. I had a few admissions there after that diagnosis and was told my admissions would be 1 week or longer as I don't have a diagnosis of eupd (emotionally unstable personality disorder) or bpd (boderline personality disorder).

However, I was admitted to emyu that year and I believe they disregarded that my Autism Spectrum Disorder can look like eupd/bpd so they put down eupd on my discharge summary even though the psychologist there at the time said they haven't observed any bpd traits at all.

A few months after that I was back in Fiona Stanley, and was told I didn't have eupd. I was also told that this year, but for some reason eupd has started appearing on medical notes and discharge summaries seemingly all because of someones mistake in 2019. Eupd is not something I want or need in my medical records and I was told I don't have it by a psych registrar, the occupational therapist, my old psychiatrist (consultant) and psychologist at the hospital. Is there a way for it to be removed and stop showing up?

It is really upsetting to keep seeing a misdiagnosis come up when it didn't used to be included in summaries by my old consultant after that diagnosis was made by emyu as, I believe they knew I didn't have it.

Dear izarqg34,

Thanks for reaching out to us via Care Opinion. We can certainly work with you and your GP to clarify diagnoses/information in your medical records.

Please contact the Fiona Stanley Hospital Patient and Family Liaison Service on 6152 4013 and provide your name and contact number. This will then be passed on to an appropriate mental health clinician so that they can contact you and together review your medical history, work through your medical record and ensure that your medical records accurately reflect your condition.
