"Exceptional care on surgical ward"

I would just like to provide some feedback on my recent hospital admission. I was initially admitted to medical ward, but because of my situation the surgical team were better equipped to assist with my care plan. 

The nursing care that I received was amazing. The first nurse that I would like to recognise was Leonie. In my opinion, she was incredible. She helped me work through a challenging situation, and was there to support me every step of the way. She did everything she could to rectify a situation and her communication with me was just exceptional. I felt that she was so caring, compassionate and supportive. I couldn’t fault the care I received from her.

The next nurse that I would like to recognise is Keira who cared for me across 3 night shifts. The care that I received from her was second to none. Nothing was too hard, I felt she was absolutely amazing. I had trouble sleeping and she did everything she could to help me sleep, to improve my pain, but also provided wonderful companionship during that time that I felt very alone. I truly felt like she cared for me as if I was her daughter, it was so beautiful. In my opinion, she is truly an amazing nurse and person.

The next nurse I would like to acknowledge how fantastic her care was, was Sam on Surgical Ward who cared for me quite a few days. In my opinion, she is an exceptional, supportive, professional, caring, compassionate and kind nurse. I truly am grateful that I had her care for me over the period of time I was in hospital. She was so incredibly available if I needed anything, or if I wasn’t coping. I was just so impressed with how well she cared for the other patients in the room. They were all significantly older than me, and one thing I noticed was how well she maintained each of their dignity. She treated everyone the same and nothing phased her, that really impressed me. I told her how impressed I was of how well she preserved the dignity of the patients when they became unwell and were embarrassed. I believe Sam really is an asset to that ward and works so incredibly hard. She did so many days in a row but maintains the same amazing work ethic. Thanks so much Sam!

I also want to acknowledge and thank Maddy and Melissa (nurses) for their care too. :) 

I would also like to thank Leanne, the medical reg that cared for me so beautifully. She was consistently proactive in caring for me and ensuring I was discharged with everything I needed, you are wonderful! Also the pain team, Tash, for being so caring, compassionate, understanding and supportive in my experience.

I am truly very grateful to all the surgical team, the ICU team, Be Safe Doctors as well that assisted and the dietetics department for their care.
