When getting the vaccine, I asked the nurse if she would aspirate the syringe (check to make sure it is administered into the muscle, instead of the bloodstream).
I felt the nurse firmly stated that they do not do that when administering the vaccine. I asked if there was another nurse who would be willing to do that, and was again told that this was not their practice. I turned down multiple offers to talk to a doctor or head nurse.
As I stood up to leave (without the vaccine), the nurse insisted that I speak to someone (I believe it was a head nurse) who explained that this was not their practice.
When I explained I was simply requesting that the syringe be aspirated (as opposed to getting into a discussion), a new nurse was found who was willing to aspirate, and I received my vaccination.
As I left, I said to the original nurse, "Thanks for your help".
As I drove home, I realised that this could have come across as sarcastic.
As I cannot find a non-intrusive way to contact the hospital, I hoped this message could be passed along to that original nurse.
What I should have said was "I understand that like me, you have concerns (albeit different concerns), and I appreciate that despite our opposing opinions, you still persisted in finding a solution to the situation (instead of me walking out)".
