"Appointment with Radiology"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

About a week ago, I dropped a request for imaging at Swan Hill district health I was told it would be 7 days but did not hear from anyone. I sent them an email because they do not pick up their phone and it just hangs up after going through the options, only to be told that they would endeavour to make an appointment for me in the next 3 to 5 business days.

This is not good enough as I do not feel well plus my feet are swollen. I have sat at that hospital in outpatients many times for around 6 hours plus and ended just walking out, as well as the patient in front of me.

I was put in there for Chronic pneumonia when I had Angina, I suppose I was lucky then as my heart specialist saw me there and I was immediately transferred to SHMG for tests, hence I went to Melb and had 3 stents put in and at that time, I was on inhalers. I told the nurse I had to rinse my mouth out after using the inhalers, they said to me it will be OK. Maybe I should pack my bags and head to another hospital.

Really, I do not know why we have a Hospital when we are treated like that.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and I am sorry that you had this recent experience with the Radiology (Imaging) service at SHDH and that you did not receive the notification of an appointment as promised in the 7 day period.

I will follow this up with the Radiology Manager as a matter of urgency and seek a review of our processes relating to following up imaging appointment requests in a timely manner.

This will also allow us to also follow up the additional concerns you raise in your comments regarding outpatient waiting time delays and comments made by our staff in respect of your care.
