With the birth of my first child I struggled with breast feeding and got repeated mastitis that continued to reoccur until I stopped breast feeding. I really wanted to see a lactation consultant but there were none in Broome. I recently had a second child and was referred by the hospital to a Telehealth lactation consultant in Bunbury. They have greatly assisted me and enabled me to establish breast feeding.
I understand this service is only provided until the baby is 6 weeks old. I strongly believe support in this form should be available until the baby is at least 3 months old.
