"Endometrial ablation"

About: Flinders Medical Centre / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I've seen a specialist after years and years of pain and being told I'm too young to have anything done as I might want more kids, however, I have 3 beautiful kids and definitely don't want any more. I was finally booked in to get help- yay, I thought. I was put on a 3 month wait list to go to Flinders to have a cyst removed, a dnc, endometrial ablation and a mirena put in. Thankful someone listened, someone was going to help me or so I thought.

So, I get a phone call from admissions with a date that is two and a bit months into my wait- yay, the wait is over! They book me in so I organise accommodation and work ect just to get a phone call a few days later that seemingly- opps- they booked me into the wrong hospital so they need to cancel that 🤦‍♀️

Then, I get a phone call from the surgeon who I recall saying that they don't normally do that surgery on people my age but just want to make sure I am aware of what I am signing up for- yep, all good- so they are going ahead with my surgery and will ring me with a date soon.

They ring me not long after where I remember them saying that they can do it- sweet, finally going to be pain free! I had a nurse call the day after and then had blood tests. Admissions rings up confirming surgery and time for following day-yep, all good- my accommodation was booked and paid for.

I get a phone call from the surgeon the night before my surgery- oh yea sorry- as I understand it they wont be doing an ablation tomorrow because I am too young and the board said no but they can still check my cyst.... 🤨

I believe this was something I could have done in my town where I didn't have to travel 3hrs and spend money on accommodation for my partner and kids while I stayed in hospital. I cancelled it all, why offer a surgery I was too young to get in the first place and why not notify me of this before the night before surgery?

I'm beyond mad, I rang the accommodation in tears. Luckily, they gave me a full refund when they didn't have to and I'm being told that I can have another appointment to see what can be done in the future. That means another 2 years of pain. I just want to be fixed now, I can't handle this pain anymore.
