"Radiation care"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Imaging Services GenesisCare Fiona Stanley Hospital Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Neurological Intervention and Imaging Service WA

(as the patient),

I have been having treatment for glioblastoma multiforme for around a year (still alive beyond original diagnostic time frame). Unfortunately I have developed recurrence and am undergoing stereotactic radiosurgery. I would love the opportunity to commend my radiation oncologist and the entire Genesis team of admin, nurses and radiation techs involved in my care for their constant calm, kind and compassionate delivery. I have not once felt like a number.

I would also like to thank my across site and health service consultants (rad onc fsh/neuro onc scgh) for their collaboration and patient focused care. I feel safe and cared for as a patient and part of the team.

Dear sigmamp55,

Thank you for your kind compliments. Particularly in light of your recent recurrence and what sounds like quite intensive treatment, I am especially grateful that you still took the time to let us know that you feel so well cared for and as part of a team.

I have shared your compliment with the teams you have mentioned.

Wishing you well with all of your future treatment.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty

Dear sigmamp55,

I would like to thank you most sincerely for your warm-hearted acknowledgement of your glioblastoma multiforme treatment.

People living with this type of tumour, are tested continuously and it is a testimony to your fortitude that you have taken the time to think of the treating teams involved.

Our SCGH neuro-oncology consultants strive to provide the very best possible patient-centred, focused care and they will be very pleased to hear that you feel safe and cared for.

I hope that you have the best possible outcome from the stereotactic radiosurgery.

Kind regards

Janet Zagari

Update posted by sigmamp55 (the patient)

Thank you for your responses. I appreciate how care delivered across more than one hospital and/or service can be challenging for not just myself and my husband, but also all the staff involved.

In my case it has been well executed, possibly in part due to the serious nature of my aggressive brain cancer. I am very thankful you have both assured me that my compliments have been shared with the teams involved.

I hope this is also able to support others to use the Care Opinion platform as a mechanism of providing specific information around their care to assist timely patient/carer feedback, both positive and areas for improvement, to assist health services and others to have the mostly positive experiences I/we have had over the last 13months.
