"My spouse's care"

About: Southern Cross Health Service / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I took my spouse to the E.D at Southern Cross (W.A) hospital as their temperature was very high & they had the shivers as well. At the time, we were near the caravan park across the road.

I felt the nurse, James, took the situation seriously straight away & was excellent in his manner towards us both. He quickly assessed my spouse and organised a flight through RFDS & transfer to another hospital after talking to the doctor via tele-link. He also gave antibiotics as instructed. He was so efficient & worked hard under pressure. All the staff who we dealt with at the S.C Hosp. were amazing and looked after my spouse very well. I have nothing but praise for them. At the time I wrote this, my spouse was at the other hospital with the infectious disease team treating them.

Your spouse was clearly unwell, and the situation required prompt action. It is fantastic to hear that not only was the clinical skill and experience of the staff delivered in a timely manner but equally important you both felt you were in safe hands.

I hope that your spouse is recovering well.

Thank you Wendy, my husband is recovering well now. He was in Fiona Stanley Hospital for 9 days and is very thankful for the quick actions by the lovely staff at Southern cross hospital.

I took photos of the infection which proved valuable in the treatment of the strep infection I urge others to do the same as it is a great reference if the same infection comes back in the future as it did for my husband.
