"Exceptional state of the art care from the COPS Team"

My elderly relative recently attended the Prince of Wales Hospital due to an acute illness and was placed under the care of the Surgical Aged Care team know as COPS (Care of Older People- Surgery). I felt that my relative received exceptional, empathetic care and attention from both the Senior and Junior medical staff, nurses and allied care support staff associated with COPS on the Dickson 2 South ward.

I believe my relative's illness was investigated appropriately to the highest standards and the treatment and care that was delivered was timely, efficiently and effectively, whereby being discharged home was the aim as soon as they were stable and had improvement in their health.

My relative and my family would like to begin by thanking the Senior Consultant Surgeon Doctor, Greg, and his team, who looked after my relative. Doctor Greg, in my opinion, is a highly talented and skilled physician with years of abdominal surgery experience. Thank you also for the wonderful care provided by Doctor Christina the Aged Care Consultant and her medical team. I found that her dedication and passion to help and medically treat older patients is commendable as is support to help and assist relatives and families.

Both Doctor Christina’s, Doctor Greg’s and his surgical team's professionalism and personalized approach towards my relative was very much appreciated and we are extremely grateful for the exceptional care provided.

In addition, would also like to acknowledge Doctor Justin, the surgical fellow who would consistently feedback any updates on the various investigative tests that were ordered throughout the admission.

I believe Doctor Greg, Doctor Justin and Doctor Christina all demonstrated exceptional empathetic bedside manner. Their effective communication and explanation of complex medical issues was reassuring, informative and helpful in alleviating stress and anxiety, as well as providing insight as to what was the cause of the illness and how best to treat this condition.

Finally, we wish to thanks the nursing staff on D2S for their compassionate nursing care. A big thank you to both Nurse Julie and Nurse Lara for what I believe is their exceptional nursing standards in caring for our relative and for older patients in general.
