I had possible broken feet or fractured feet after I had a fall on a weekend recently, to err on the side of caution I decided to go to the hospital and get an x-ray. I rang before I went, to see if the x-ray place was open. On the phone they said that the x-ray department would close at 11 and probably not to come and just ice my feet. I was in a lot of pain, I explained that I really felt I should come in. So I caught a taxi and waited, got there about 9:30 and waited and waited but that’s the norm.
About an hour later triage had happened and I had seen the doctor but I was worried that x-ray would close. The doctor, Hayden, what a lovely young doctor, had already sorted the x-ray. I went in and got x-rayed and that took some time to process. Doctor Hayden had such a lovely, caring manner and said that I do have fractures in both feet. The left one more severe. He told me I would be plastered, gave me a script for painkillers. He took me seriously, organized my care really well. He was a real gentle soul, very good patient-doctor dynamic, not brisk or hurried. He was very lovely, I was so impressed, I told him I had a previous good experience where the nurses then were fantastic and the doctors too were outstanding.
At the end the another doctor did my plastering, they were busy and so were the nurses, they didn’t ask if I would like any water or pain medication. More recently I was at another hospital and they asked me after only 10 minutes. I think it is good to just check in with the person, I have a high tolerance to pain, I’m just taking Panadeine fort. When I left, the two security members were very helpful. They pushed me to the taxi bay. All in all it was good and Doctor Hayden was outstanding.
