"My dad's care"

About: Northam Health Service / Emergency Department Royal Perth Hospital / Emergency Department Royal Perth Hospital / Orthopaedic Surgical & Trauma & Spinal Care Ward 3H/5G

(as a relative),

My dad in his 90’s had a fall at the nursing home and sustained a broken left hip. He was transferred from Northam Hospital to RPH ED.

From the time of arrival in Northam ED, I feel his care has been nothing less than caring, professional and of a high standard.

My mother and I would specifically like to thank Dr Aaron and Claudia for initially managing him in Northam ED, keeping us informed every step of the way and addressing his pain, and Trenton for assisting in arranging timely transport with SJA.

On arriving at Royal, we would also like to thank Dr Tom, Callam and Heidi for their wonderful care in ED, and the orthopaedic team of Drs that I felt saw him so quickly on arrival, Zoe and Sonia up in 5G for taking special care of him in his admission.

My dad has advanced dementia, and I feel these guys made every effort to keep him comfortable and give us a very positive experience. I believe you are all amazing and we can't thank you enough.

Dear kilodw45,

Thank you for taking to time to share your story on Care Opinion.

I took great pleasure in reading your encouraging feedback regarding the ‘wonderful care’ your 90 year old father received by our Emergency Department staff at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH). It was also heart-warming to know that this high level of patient-centred care was continued by the Orthopaedic doctors and nursing staff on Ward 5G.

Please be assured that I will pass on your appreciation to all the RPH staff involved in his care.

I wish your father well in his recovery.

Kind regards

Dr Lesley Bennett
