Our elderly mother in her 90’s had a fall at home sustaining an open – compound leg fracture, with significant blood loss and bruising. She was taken to Royal Perth Hospital very promptly by St John ambulance, following excellent initial assessment and care at her home at the time of the injury.
A special thank you to Paramedics Rhys and Stefan. On arrival in the emergency department Royal Perth Hospital, I felt she received immediate expert assessment and care and in particular we think thank Dr Amanda, emergency department physician. Our mother was very promptly assessed by the orthopaedic on-call team and underwent initial surgery the following day.
She was then transferred to Ward 5G Royal Perth Hospital and received ongoing excellent care from all of the nursing staff, medical and allied health staff who she dealt with. She had further surgery and is now making a good recovery. Our family is extremely grateful for the compassionate, kind, expert and timely care she received at Royal Perth Hospital
