"Having a heart valve replacement"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / DB3N - Cardiology Ward Prince of Wales Hospital / DB3S - Cardiothoracic Surgery Ward

(as the patient),

I had a replacement heart valve at Prince of Wales Hospital, I was very worried about the process, pain etc.

To my surprise, I was sitting up the next morning, no pain and feeling good.

The nursing staff involved in my care were incredible, it seems to me the hours they work, and some of the patients I believe they have to put up with, they are fantastic.

I felt the doctors were great, they kept me well informed to what was happening.

I was discharged in about a week with no pain, no problems, feeling a little weak but healthy, and getting stronger every day.

In my opinion, this was due totally to the fantastic staff at Prince of Wales, I can only thank them for a fantastic job.
