One of the staff who works in the hospital is, based on my experience, repeatedly rude without a smile whether it is face to face or on the phone - I believe it makes no difference!
I believe a smile costs nothing, in fact it can make someone's day! In my opinion, many folks who attend the hospital can be cheered simply by a smile and a cheery Good morning. In my experience, the volunteers at the front desk do a wonderful job of it always! (And I understand they are not even paid).
I believe eye contact is also very important, even if they are on the phone. Just acknowledging someone's presence. This staff member has been, from what I have experienced, consistently rude and I feel they do not listen but talk over me and has done so since I stepped into the hospital for the first time some time ago. I understand their job is to serve people - not for people to serve them! In my opinion, they need to change their attitude. Thank you!
