"Melanoma removal"

About: Mount Beauty Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a good experience with the operation. I have had an adverse reaction to needles in the past and at my suggestion Dr Mark was more than happy to meet with me and work out a contingency plan, which involved a bit of pre-op valium and some skin desensitising cream on my hands.

I think the operation was a success and the whole experience was very caring and professional. I, without thinking, removed the needle from the back of my hand when I was having my cup of tea and sandwiches and I passed out with a very low heart rate but, even though it was my fault and it made extra work for them, I felt everyone there was very reassuring and kind.

Dear feinter59,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. I am glad to hear that you spoke with the surgeon and the dr prior to your procedure to assist with having the needle. It can be very confronting coming into hospital for a procedure.

Kind regards,

Tanya
